Promote Your Business With Workshops 1-2-3

Holding a free workshop can be a low-cost and effective way to introduce your company or promote your products and services. This marketing technique works especially well if you have a likable personality and offer a service where you work one-on-one with clients (like consulting, hair styling, etc). You do not have to be a salesperson, since you are simply presenting information on a topic rather than directly selling a product.

If you deliver valuable information, and people enjoy your workshop, you will likely be remembered as a knowledgeable expert in your field that people want to do business with. When in need for your product or service, those workshop attendees are likely to contact you or refer your business to others.

Many times it can cost you virtually nothing to put on a workshop. In addition, lots of organizations are looking for speakers or activities that they can include in their group meetings, and they are happy to find a room full of interested prospects for you.

If you are intimidated by presenting to a large room full of people, choose a small group or an activity-oriented workshop which can be more casual and fun. Your event does not need to be long. If you can convey the needed information in less than an hour, that may even work better for people with busy lifestyles.

1. Figure out a topic for your workshop. You want your topic, of course, to be of interest to your market. Good topics tend to be ones that provide solutions to problems, help people save time or money, or include “how to” or “do-it-yourself” tips.

Plan your workshop agenda. Will you be speaking the entire time or will you have activities scheduled for the attendees? Will any materials be required – either by you or the attendees?

2. Decide on a location for your workshop. Will you host the event in your own office building or retail shop? Are you speaking to an organization or group that will provide the venue for you? Will you need to reserve space at a local community center, library or can you hold your workshop outdoors in a park?

Set an Intention For Your Business And Watch It Grow

When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it. -W. Clement Stone

Have you made the choice to create your ideal business and now waiting for clients to come to you? Feel that you have tried everything to bring in clients, doing everything you are supposed to be doing, and still there is no response? Putting in more hours per day now that you have your own business than you did when you were working at a J-O-B.

So much needs to be put in place as a new business and getting clients is one of the items highest on the list. Having potential clients contact you validates this was the right choice to make. When I first started my practice I subscribed to the Field of Dreams, build it and they will come.

What the field of dreams did not tell me was building a business was only half the secret. Of course you have to have a service, but you also need to take specific actions to help your ideal clients recognize you have the solutions to their problems.

Now I can talk about determining your ideal client, the need to market consistently and creating a pull marketing system to round out your marketing strategy. Each of those pieces is integral for your business to get started.

But I have found that I can talk strategy with my clients all day long and if there is any doubt about ability to make this work, then the best laid efforts will not help you to achieve the true success you desire.

With that being said, it is mindset which is the key to having a successful business or not. You need to truly believe in what you are doing, utilize your unique talents and maintain positive intentions.

It will be challenging at times, especially when you are getting started. A positive mindset, even when it is challenging and uncomfortable, is crucial. In my opinion, having a positive mindset is more important than marketing.

The Power of Mindset and How It Affects Your Business Success

What was the reason you decided to start your own business? Did you get tired of your corporate job and feel you could do it better? Are you home with your family and your hobby turned into a business? All of a sudden you were out of a job and needed an income?

Too often I hear from my clients they are working too hard in their business without seeing an increase in revenue. If you needed to create more income, would you be able to do this quickly? More often than not, we hold ourselves back. You talk about having a successful business, but some of the steps you have to take are scary. Because of this fear, avoidance occurs and you don’t even realize this is happening.

Shawna is an organizer. She could walk into a home or office easily transforming it for her clients. She was ready to grow her business, but realized she was not following through with opportunities.

She helped her clients become organized. She knew she was appreciated by her clients. As much as she loves what she does, and could do it all day long, she didn’t really value her talent. She continued struggling at the end of the month barely making ends meet. Shawna claimed she wanted success, but something was holding her back.

You see, Shawna had conflicting values. She wanted success, but she was resistant to wealth. Her beliefs about money did not allow her to get beyond a certain income level. Looking at the numbers she had remained at an income threshold for several years. This was not based upon reality. This was due to a belief Shawna created for herself. What happened to her is true for all of us.

We have beliefs which we developed when we were younger. Having beliefs which are in direct conflict with current goals will stop progress dead in its tracks or make progress very difficult. Worse yet, it could lead to sabotage.

Fortunately, beliefs can be changed. It is possible, but difficult, to change your mindset on your own. You become so used to seeing things a specific way that you become stuck.
